On June 20, a boxing tournament for combat veterans took place in Irpin, Kyiv region, organized by the Ukrainian Veterans Boxing League. The event featured eight bouts involving 16 athletes from various law enforcement agencies. Among the participants were six veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVA) system.

  • Police officers Oleksii Bilenkyi and Oleksii Nerovnia,
  • Border guard Oleksandr Mamontov,
  • National Guardsmen Denys Bondarenko, Ruslan Yeromenko, and Viacheslav Ivashchuk.
'For me, boxing is a way to stay fit, build mental toughness, and sharpen my skills. Competing gives me new experiences and the motivation to keep moving forward.' Oleksii Nerovnia

The competition was a significant milestone for veterans seeking to maintain physical activity and refine their abilities.

This tournament highlights the critical role of physical exercise for veterans who have experienced combat, serving as a model for how sports can aid rehabilitation and social reintegration. Beyond keeping veterans physically active, events like these foster new connections and enable the exchange of experiences among former service members.

Events like the boxing tournament not only promote physical fitness among veterans but also highlight the importance of various sports in their recovery journey. Similarly, the Kettlebell Cup organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs showcases the resilience and competitive spirit of wounded veterans and soldiers, further emphasizing the vital role of athletic activities in their rehabilitation and social reintegration.
