Representatives of the Ministry of Development of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the JASPERS advisory program, and UNICEF. The purpose of the meeting was to identify common priorities and mechanisms for attracting investment in the water supply and wastewater sector, especially in frontline regions.
First Deputy Minister Aliona Shkrum emphasized the difficult situation in the sector caused by shelling from Russia, and highlighted the importance of the EIB's program for restoring water infrastructure. She noted: 'We highly value the involvement of the EIB, JASPERS, and UNICEF in the restoration and development of the water supply sector. It is important for us to have partners that help shape modern approaches, enhance analytics, and promote the implementation of European standards.'
Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, stressed the importance of support in enhancing the resilience of the water supply sector and its harmonization with European legislation. He stated: 'Our cooperation allows us to combine the best international experience and the practical needs of communities.'
As a result of the meeting, further partnership was agreed upon, particularly regarding the economic resilience of water utilities, risk modeling, and overall further development of sustainable water infrastructure.
UNICEF Ukraine European Investment Bank
The Ukrainian Ministry of Development is actively cooperating with the European Investment Bank, JASPERS, and UNICEF to restore and develop water supply in frontline regions. The representation of international organizations helps implement modern technologies and European standards in this sector, which will contribute to sustainable development and improve the quality of life for residents.
