On December 10, hourly schedules and electricity consumption restrictions will be in effect across Ukraine. Ukrenergo did not disclose the planned volumes of restrictions and how many queues will be switched off simultaneously for the first time during the outages. The company explained that the reason is the consequences of rocket and drone attacks that have severely impacted the energy infrastructure. This is reported by Informator.

Power outages in Ukraine on December 10: what is known

As noted by Ukrenergo, the schedules apply to all regions of the country. The following will be implemented:

  • hourly outages for the population

  • power limitation schedules for industrial consumers.

The company emphasizes that the situation in the energy system may change throughout the day. Despite the absence of official data on the volumes of outages, DTEK and regional energy companies have already published their preliminary schedules for individual regions.

The energy system remains one of the most burdened throughout the entire period of full-scale war.

Power outages in Ukraine related to generation deficit

Massive strikes by Russia from December 6 to 8 caused critical damage to thermal generation, and nuclear power plants were forced to reduce their output. In particular:

  • night outages have returned even to regions with milder schedules

  • generation deficit persists during daytime and evening hours

  • thermal power plants have limited maneuverability due to damage.

According to Stanislav Ignatiev, chairman of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, the restrictions may remain in effect until at least April.

The government is considering options to reduce the duration of outages for the population, including by reducing the number of critical infrastructure facilities or possible partial de-energization of them.

Earlier, we reported that on the eve of December 6, massive attacks by Russian troops on energy facilities occurred in eight regions, leading to electricity supply interruptions in six of them.
