The illusion of safety in Europe has spread
The illusion that one can 'wait out' the war in a safe Europe and return to the former life has been completely shattered. Western countries, which many Ukrainians viewed as a 'backup airfield', are themselves in deep crisis and are becoming increasingly hostile to newcomers. The only survival strategy for Ukrainians becomes uniting in organized communities within the country.
This conclusion was reached by analysts Yuriy Romanenko and Vitaliy Kulyk during a conversation on the YouTube channel 'Yuriy Romanenko'.
A new reality for Ukrainians in Europe
Experts note that a significant part of the society expects that after the end of the war everything will instantly return to the state of 2021. However, this is a false perception, they warn.
'Most people who want to wait out believe that everything will end, and suddenly the 21st year will begin. Just like that – a magical switch', - noted Vitaliy Kulyk.
Yuriy Romanenko referred to history before World War I, emphasizing the fallacy of expectations for an immediate change.
Do not count on safety in Europe
Experts are outraged that a resilient, stable world no longer exists and the attempt to 'sit it out' in European countries will turn into a blow from a new, harsher reality. They warn that global transformation affects everyone, and the notion of the West as a safe haven is outdated.
'You will end up in Poland, where a Russian drone will land, or you will go to serve in the Polish army and defend Polish borders. Or you will get to Germany or Sweden, where a massacre is starting', - warns Romanenko.
Vitaliy Kulyk also adds that conditions for Ukrainians abroad may not be as expected, and in times of crisis they may be perceived as 'strangers'.
Experienced analysts concluded that the illusion of safety in Europe has spread, and Ukrainians should prepare for a new reality where old ideas of a stable and safe West may not correspond to reality.
