Military Personnel and Marriage Registration During Martial Law

This issue became relevant after one of the service members turned to lawyers due to the commander's refusal to grant leave. Lawyer Vyacheslav Kirdya noted that commanders' decisions are typical under combat conditions where resources and opportunities are limited.

- The first option is a digital method known as 'Marriage Online'. Using the 'DiiA' application allows for the full cycle of marriage registration via video call, making the process quick and convenient.
- The second option involves a bureaucratic path, where the service member has the right to file an official complaint with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine if they believe the commander's actions are illegal.
- The third option is a 'field' method, whereby the fact of marriage registration can be certified by the commanders of military units. This allows service members who cannot leave their units to formalize their marriage without waiting for leave.
Thus, military personnel have several legal ways to marry without interrupting their duties. In this context, it is important for service members to know their rights and possibilities to ensure they can legally marry, regardless of circumstances.
