Russian Troops Destroy Bridges in Southern Odesa Region
Russian troops have been actively destroying bridges in the southern Odesa region as part of their strategy to isolate Bessarabia and create risks for the area. This was reported by Denis Sokolov from the National Guard of Ukraine.
One of these bridges was located in the Palanka area, which was an important part of the region's transport system.
After the bridge in Zatoka was destroyed in 2022, this route remained the only one for movement and logistics in the region.
The Russian military destroyed bridges as needed, first destroying the bridge in Zatoka, which was crucial for transportation in the region between Budzhak and Romania.
These actions led to the isolation of Bessarabia from the rest of the region and Ukraine, creating serious problems for the residents of the area.
Tasks for Regional Security
To ensure security in the region, it is necessary to focus on restoring infrastructure and cooperating with Moldova to curb Russian influence. This is important as Russian attacks on the infrastructure of Odesa create significant problems for the region.
Repeated attempts by Russia to incapacitate infrastructure in Odesa indicate an intention to create difficulties in supply and isolate the region.
In this regard, Ukrainian forces have reinforced defense in the south, particularly along the border with Transnistria, to protect against potential threats.
Restrictions on Transport and Civil Infrastructure
After the attack by a Russian drone on the Mayaky-Udobne bridge, traffic was completely halted for damage assessment.
Traffic on the Odesa-Reni highway was temporarily blocked, and there were civilian casualties as a result of the attack.
As a result of Russian attacks and the destruction of bridges in southern Odesa, Bessarabia found itself in a difficult situation with logistical and humanitarian risks, requiring urgent measures to ensure the security and stability of the region.
