The Vinnitsa city court issued a verdict against a man who shot a dog. He received five years of imprisonment for this crime. The court established that the defendant, acting out of hooligan motives, fired a shot from an air rifle and killed the animal in his yard. He will not be able to avoid punishment, as he refused to admit his guilt and compensate for the damage caused.

Currently, the verdict has not yet entered into legal force

Similarly, the police detained another man who shot a neighbor's dog with a hunting firearm in the village of Rovzhy. He may also face up to three years in prison. The conflict between them arose due to a neighbor's Alabai breed dog, which was shot when it ran beyond the yard. The man took a hunting rifle and fired two shots, resulting in the animal's death.

Both of these cases of animal cruelty are becoming increasingly relevant as society focuses on protecting animal rights. Legislation in Ukraine is increasingly strengthening responsibility for violence against animals, and such verdicts are an important step toward raising awareness about this issue and preventing instances of animal cruelty.
