Payments to families with orphaned children will increase in Ukraine: what amounts

In Ukraine, financial support for families raising orphaned children is significantly increasing. The Cabinet of Ministers approved a gradual increase in payments for foster parents and caregivers of family-type children's homes, which will continue until 2028. This was reported by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

How payments to foster parents for raising orphaned children will increase

The new payment amounts foresee a significant increase in funding. For foster parents, the average monthly amount per parent will be:

  • in 2026 – 16,240.64 UAH;
  • in 2027 – 16,992.16 UAH;
  • in 2028 – 17,894.96 UAH.

How payments to caregivers of family-type children's homes will increase

An even more significant increase is expected for caregivers of family-type children's homes. Their payments per caregiver will be:

  • in 2026 – 52,782.08 UAH;
  • in 2027 – 55,224.52 UAH;
  • in 2028 – 58,158.62 UAH.

According to Oleksiy Honcharenko, this government decision is an important step to support vulnerable categories of the population. 

“These are not just numbers, but real help for families who give children a chance for a full life”, – noted the MP on his Telegram channel.

What is the amount of payment for children under guardianship

In addition, payments for children under guardianship continue to operate in Ukraine. Currently, they amount to:

  • for children under 6 years old – 6,407.5 UAH (2.5 subsistence minimums for this age category);
  • for children over 6 years old – 7,990 UAH (2.5 subsistence minimums).

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, the government plans to continue improving the support system for families raising orphaned children, including through additional training programs and psychological assistance for caregivers.
