Ukrainian Soldier's Life Cut Short
A Ukrainian serviceman, Revaz Gegechkori, has died as a result of hostilities in eastern Ukraine. Born on February 4, 1997, in Zhytomyr Oblast, he grew up in the village of Krasnobirka in the Radomyshl district. His family were forced migrants from Abkhazia. After graduating from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 2022, where he studied in the Department of Biotechnology and Engineering, Revaz completed an internship at the Kyiv Champagne Wine Factory 'Stolychnyi'.
Service and Heroism
In 2019, Revaz met his girlfriend Maryna. In October 2024, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as an external pilot for unmanned aerial vehicles in the 1st Section of Reconnaissance Aviation Drone Systems. Tragically, on June 21, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Ivano-Darivka in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk Oblast, he came under enemy fire.
Following an extensive search, Revaz Gegechkori was officially declared dead in May 2026, confirmed through DNA analysis. He was laid to rest in the village of Krasnohorivka. Revaz's father, Robert, originally from Georgia, endured severe hardship during the 1992-1993 Abkhaz-Georgian conflict, which claimed the lives of his own father and brother.
