The Russian strike on Fastiv led to the destruction of 27 suburban electric train cars, said Deputy Minister Oleksiy Balesta, who visited the site with foreign diplomats and representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia.
On the night of December 5 to 6, the Russian army attacked the railway infrastructure of the Ukrainian city of Fastiv. The delegation visiting the destroyed site included representatives from the embassies of Germany, France, Switzerland, and the acting chargé d'affaires of the USA, Julia Davis.

The destroyed object is a suburban electric train depot, the restoration of which will cost about 100 million hryvnias. Three modernized electric trains were also damaged, totaling 27 cars, which provided connectivity in Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. Total losses are estimated at approximately 300 million hryvnias, emphasized Oleksiy Balesta.
'This was a targeted strike on civilian infrastructure,' he emphasized.
Currently, work is underway to clear the territory of the depot, which was attacked on such a large scale in Kyiv region for the first time. The station in Fastiv also suffered from the strike and is now being dismantled, with a possible restoration from almost scratch.
Oleksiy Balesta urged international partners to support Ukraine in restoring the damaged facilities and overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression.
