Deadline Extended for Displaced Persons to Apply for Aid: New Rules Effective Through June 1

Нові терміни подачі заявок на допомогу для внутрішньо переміщених осіб: зміни діють до 1 червня.

Extended Application Period for IDP Assistance

On April 24, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine passed Resolution No. 522, pushing back the application deadline for housing aid to June 1, 2026, for certain categories of internally displaced persons (IDPs). This extension applies to two primary groups: families with children and pensioners. The move aims to provide continued support to those most affected by displacement.

Eligible Recipient Categories

  • First Category: Families with children who hold IDP status. For these families, parental income is not a factor, but they must meet criteria regarding property ownership, actual place of residence, and children's school attendance. If they submit their application by June 1, 2026, payments will be retroactively granted starting February 1, 2026.

  • Second Category: Pensioners and families with individuals unable to work. This applies to those whose aid was previously halted because their average monthly household income exceeded the threshold. If they apply by June 1, 2026, payments for this group will be backdated to January 1, 2026. Importantly, applications submitted after June 1, 2026, will only receive payments from the month of application onward.

This extension of the application period for IDP assistance reflects the Ukrainian government's efforts to support the most vulnerable populations, especially as many continue to face economic hardship. It also highlights the critical role of social support for families with children and pensioners, who may find themselves in precarious financial situations due to the ongoing conflict. Given the prolonged and complex circumstances in the country, such measures are essential for ensuring the stability and well-being of these groups.

The recent extension of the application deadline for IDP assistance is part of a broader strategy to alleviate the financial strain on vulnerable groups.
