From January 1, 2026: How much salaries, pensions, and child payments will increase

Починаючи з 1 січня 2026 року, українці очікують підвищення виплат, що позитивно вплине на їх добробут.

Social changes in Ukraine from January 1, 2026

Starting from January 1, 2026, changes in social standards will be implemented in Ukraine, salaries and pensions will be increased, new payment programs will be launched, and fuel excise taxes will rise. These changes will affect a significant part of the country's population and aim to improve the material condition of citizens.

Specifically, the minimum wage will increase from 8000 to 8647 hryvnias. The subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons will amount to 3328 hryvnias. The minimum pension will also undergo changes: it will increase by 234 hryvnias and will be 2595 hryvnias. These increases are intended to ensure better living conditions for Ukrainians.

Child payments and teachers' salary increases

Child payments will also change. Upon the birth of a child, the state will provide 50000 hryvnias. The assistance for care until the child is one year old will be 7000 hryvnias per month. Additionally, a program called 'eYasla' will be introduced, which will provide 8000 hryvnias per month for childcare in private kindergartens or for nanny services. This, according to the government, will help parents ensure quality education and care for their children.

From January 1, an increase in teachers' salaries is also planned: they will rise by 30%, and from September 1, by another 20%. These measures are aimed at increasing the prestige of the teaching profession and improving working conditions in the education sector.

At the same time, from January 1, fuel excise taxes will rise. It is expected that the price of gasoline will increase by 1.5-2.5 hryvnias per liter, diesel by 2-3 hryvnias, and autogas by 1-1.8 hryvnias. This could affect the overall expenses of the population.

  • Ukrainians over 40 will receive 2000 hryvnias for health screening, aimed at raising awareness about health in this age group.
  • Ukraine will officially join the EU roaming zone, simplifying communication for Ukrainians abroad.

Thus, from January 1, 2026, important social changes will be introduced, which, according to the government, should positively impact the well-being of the population. Changes in social standards should provide support to various categories of citizens, including parents, retirees, and education workers, which may improve their financial situation. At the same time, the increase in excise taxes on fuel may lead to a rise in prices for other goods and services, which will require government attention to mitigate potential negative impacts on the population. The expansion of opportunities for Ukrainians abroad also underscores the desire for integration with the European Union.
