A total of about 200 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip. In response, the Israeli army killed 15 members of Hamas.
130 facilities in the Gaza Strip were also destroyed, including tunnels, an intelligence site, and locations where weapons are stored and manufactured. Israeli media report that among the injured are children.
Rocket attacks on civilians in southern Israel by members of the Hamas movement began on the evening of May 10 and have continued without interruption. Air raid sirens went off in several cities in Israel due to the explosions.
One of the rockets also hit a vehicle, injuring one person. Additional armed forces units were sent to the border with the Gaza Strip.
The cause of the armed conflict was the Israeli authorities' plans to evict several Arab settlements from East Jerusalem, which outraged Palestinians.
In connection with the escalation, the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting in closed format. The European Union, the USA, and the United Kingdom called for de-escalation of the conflict.
