Ukrainians and other foreigners may be obliged to leave Poland within a specified period if they lose the grounds for legal residence. In some cases, only 30 days are allowed for departure after the decision becomes final. This is reported by inPoland.
Leaving Poland in 30 days: when the obligation arises
The law obliges foreigners to leave the country after the permitted period of stay has expired or in the event of negative decisions regarding documents.
The main grounds are:
-
expiration of the visa-free stay, visa, or residence permit;
-
refusal to extend the visa;
-
refusal to issue a temporary or permanent residence permit;
-
refusal to grant long-term residence in the EU.
In such cases, the foreigner must leave Poland within the specified period, otherwise sanctions may apply.

Obligation to leave Poland: what other reasons
The 30-day term also applies in cases where previously issued documents lose validity or are revoked.
This concerns the following situations:
-
cancellation of the residence permit;
-
cessation of consideration of the legalization application;
-
loss of refugee status or additional protection.
The countdown starts from the moment the decision becomes final.
In case of violation, Polish legislation provides for administrative measures:
-
forced return;
-
ban on re-entry to the country.
These rules apply to all foreigners, including Ukrainian citizens, and aim to control compliance with residency conditions in Poland.
It should be noted that some Ukrainians under temporary protection in Poland have lost automatic access to free medical care after changes in legislation. The new rules have already sparked a wave of criticism and calls for a review of the decisions.
