The Loss of Oleg Krainyk

On January 28, 2026, it was announced that Ukrainian serviceman Oleg Krainyk had died from cardiac arrest following severe combat and injuries sustained in the line of duty. He was born on December 20, 1991, in the village of Byshiv, Lviv Oblast. Krainyk completed his basic education at the Byshiv village school and later studied at the Lviv College of Meat and Dairy Industry of the National University of Food Technologies, specializing in 'Storage, Preservation, and Processing of Milk'. He furthered his education at the National University of Food Technologies, earning a higher degree in 'Food Technology and Engineering'.

Military Service and Remembrance

Prior to his military service, Oleg worked as an automobile repair master at Niko-Zakhid LLC. In 2024, following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he chose to defend his country. Oleg Krainyk served on the Zaporizhzhia front as part of the 210th Separate Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. For his bravery and courage, he was decorated with:

  • The Commander-in-Chief's Honorary Badge 'Silver Cross'
  • The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense medal 'For Wounds'

Oleg Krainyk was laid to rest on January 2 at the Lychakiv Cemetery, in the field of honor burials No. 87 (Pasicchna Street). He is survived by his wife, son, parents, cousins, and a sister. His death is a profound loss for his family and all who knew him. His dedication and heroism in defending Ukraine will be remembered forever.

The death of Oleg Krainyk underscores the tragic human cost of the war for Ukrainian families and society as a whole. His story is another testament to the courage and devotion of Ukrainian soldiers who risk their lives to protect their homeland.
