The Life and Service of Maksym Kononets
Maksym Kononets was born on November 20, 2000, in the city of Kreminna, Luhansk Oblast. He completed his education at a local school-gymnasium in 2016. He then pursued vocational training, qualifying as an electric and gas welder in 2019 at the Professional Construction Lyceum No. 98 in Sievierodonetsk. Furthering his education, he graduated in 2021 from the Rubizhne Industrial and Pedagogical College with a specialty as a welding production technician-technologist.
Beginning in 2019, Kononets worked as an electric and gas welder at the Novokramatorsk Machine-Building Plant. He commenced his mandatory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2021. In 2023, he signed a contract to continue his service, specializing as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operator within a mechanized battalion. He was 25 years old at the time of his death.
For his dedicated service, he was awarded the following honors:
- The 'Combat Action Participant' medal,
- The 'Cossack Cross' breast badge,
- The 'For Wounding' medal.
Maksym Kononets was laid to rest in the Alley of Heroes at the cemetery in the village of Tarasivka, which is part of the Boyarka urban territorial community in the Fastiv district. He is survived by his mother, a minor sister, his grandmother, and his fiancée. His family resides in the town of Hansenske in the Kyiv region.
