In Memory of Yaroslav Urvan
Ukrainian defender Yaroslav Urvan was killed at the front on March 19, 2026. His death represents a profound loss for his family and the nation. Urvan was born on April 30, 1982, in the city of Rivne, Rivne Oblast. He completed his secondary education in Rivne and Lviv before training as a mechanic at the Lviv Vocational School. He furthered his education at the separate structural unit of the Automobile and Road College of the Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Following his studies, Urvan worked in vehicle maintenance and repair and also pursued entrepreneurial activities. In 2023, recognizing the urgent need to defend his country, he answered the call to serve. He defended Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty on the northern-Slobozhansky axis, serving as part of the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force. This sector has seen some of the war's most intense fighting since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022.
Awards and Recognition
For his dedication and bravery, Yaroslav Urvan received numerous commendations. He was honored with the Presidential Award 'For the Defense of Ukraine' and the Ministry of Defense award 'Cross of Valor.' He also received the awards 'For Diligent Service' and the 'Golden Cross' from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yaroslav Urvan was laid to rest on April 10, 2026, at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv, in field of honor burial plot No. 87 (Pasicchna Street). He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, mother, sister, brother, and extended family, who will remember him as a courageous defender of Ukraine. His life and service stand as a powerful example of devotion and patriotism.
