Nazariy Kovalik: a hero who gave his life for Ukraine


Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives have been taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Nazariy Kovalik.


On January 24, 2024, Ukrainian defender Nazariy Kovalik died in Russian captivity. Only a year and a half later, on July 25, 2025, the soldier's family was able to bury him. This was reported by

Life and Service


Nazariy Kovalik was born on August 9, 1996, in Lviv. He studied in school and received vocational education at a college. He served in the military and worked as a police officer. He was devoted to his parents and valued life and family, always bringing warmth to those around him.



From 2015 to 2017, Nazariy participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for which he was awarded the Presidential Award of Ukraine.



Last Struggle


With the beginning of the invasion of Russian occupants, Nazariy Kovalik stood up to defend Ukraine again in the Luhansk direction as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danilo of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


Nazariy Kovalik is survived by a wife, daughter, son, parents, and brother.
