The proposal to create an air defense shield over western Ukraine

A group of high-ranking Western politicians and military officials proposed deploying an air defense shield over western Ukraine to intercept Russian missiles and drones. This information was reported by The Telegraph, citing sources in the United Kingdom and other NATO countries.

The initiative involves gradually expanding this shield over western Ukraine, including the possibility of closing the airspace over Kyiv. The authors of the proposal refer to the operation of the British Air Force, which demonstrated its effectiveness in intercepting Iranian drones and missiles on their way to Israel.

The proposal will be discussed by European leaders at a meeting in Copenhagen this week. The key argument from the authors of the idea is that such an operation does not threaten the lives of Russian military personnel, but reaffirms Europe's determination to defend its interests.

Russian Actions and Europe's Reaction

Recently, there has been an escalation of Russian provocations against NATO countries. Russian drones have been intercepting the airspace of Denmark, Poland, and Romania, while fighter jets have violated the airspace of Estonia. According to The Telegraph, these actions were aimed at testing the West's readiness to respond to violations of its airspace.

The foreign analyst mentioned in the material, Roland Oliphant, emphasizes that Vladimir Putin is using current problems in the U.S. to pursue his strategic goals in Europe. The warning from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding possible further actions from Russia indicates a worsening situation.
