Newborn family support: what families are entitled to
When a child is born, the family qualifies for a one-time in-kind benefit known as the baby box. Parents may choose, on their own initiative, to receive a cash payment instead of the physical package. This flexibility lets families decide which type of support works best for them.
Submitting an application: available channels
There are several ways to file the application. A paper form can be delivered to:
- a service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
- an administrator at an Administrative Service Center (TsNAP);
- an authorized official of a local community or military administration, in cases where no TsNAP is available;
Applications can also be sent by regular mail.
For added convenience, parents have the option to apply online through the Diia Portal as part of the eMalyatko comprehensive service, or through the Pension Fund of Ukraine's web portal for electronic services. A video tutorial on completing the online application is available on the Fund's web portal.
This support initiative for families with newborns is a key measure in national social policy, aimed at improving conditions for young parents.
The ability to decide between in-kind help and monetary compensation lets families adapt the benefit to their own needs and financial situation. The expansion of online services makes the process simpler and more accessible for all Ukrainians.
In light of the recent changes in family support measures, it's important to stay informed about how these adjustments may impact your benefits. For instance, child benefit payments may be reduced for recipients who are also receiving alimony. Understanding the nuances of these policies can help families navigate their financial options more effectively.
