Restoration of the Zaporizhia NPP
The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has been connected to the power system following the completion of recovery work. The external power transmission line has been successfully integrated into the energy network, which is an important step in restoring the stability of electricity supply. The repair work was carried out under the supervision of representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), confirming compliance with international safety standards.
During the recovery work, electricity supply was ensured through a backup line, which avoided interruptions in power supply. Additionally, according to information, Ukraine and the Russian Federation agreed on a localized ceasefire in the territory of the Zaporizhia NPP, which significantly eased the conditions for carrying out repair measures.
License and Safety Issues
At the same time, Roscoe issued a license for the operation of the first power unit of the Zaporizhia NPP for a period of 10 years. This issuance of the license allegedly confirms 'the necessary level of nuclear safety'. However, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine condemned this decision, pointing to potential risks and the need for stricter safety standards.
The restoration of the Zaporizhia NPP is an important stage for energy stability in Ukraine, especially in the context of military conflicts and energy challenges. However, safety issues remain on the agenda, considering the various assessments of safety standards expressed by Ukrainian and international experts. Further developments may affect Ukraine's energy policy and international relations in the region.
