The Ukrainian team won gold in the team standings at the European Horting Championship in Rome. Comprising 36 athletes, our team won 50 medals in three categories, including sparring, forms, and demonstration performances.
365 athletes from 19 countries participated in the competition. Italy secured second place, while France took third. Ukraine also made it to the top 10 in the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival, where it won 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
This is the second most successful performance by Ukraine in the entire history of participation in the Festivals since 1993! The 'blue-yellow' team has only won more medals in 2019 - when there were 25 awards.
The most successful sport was judo, where Ukraine won six medals, including bronze in the mixed team tournament. Athletes in swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis also made significant contributions to the overall result.
Recently, the World Summer Universiade was held in Germany, where the Ukrainian team won 12 medals, including 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
In summary, Ukrainian athletes demonstrated impressive results at the European Horting Championship and the European Youth Olympic Festival. Gold in Rome and 50 medals, in addition to the success at the European Festival, testify to the high level of training and professionalism of Ukrainian athletes.
