Military Personnel Honored Ahead of War Anniversary

On the eve of the anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has presented state awards to members of the armed forces. By presidential decree, two individuals received the 'For Courage' order for acts of heroism displayed while rescuing civilians following Russian bombardments.

The recipients are Sergeant Vladyslav Rozhkovskyi of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty war correspondent Marian Kushnir. These awards underscore the vital roles played by both military personnel and journalists who risk their lives to save others and report from the front lines. The ceremony highlights Ukraine's ongoing struggle for sovereignty and the diverse forms of bravery it requires.

'For us, this is never just a ceremony. Ukraine honors its heroes and lives thanks to its heroes.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy

President Zelenskyy emphasized that the awards are not a mere formality but a recognition of the heroism Ukrainians demonstrate in wartime. He also expressed gratitude to all those fighting for Ukraine's independence and to the families of service members for raising such strong and courageous individuals.

The Critical Role of Soldiers and Reporters

Honoring soldiers and journalists during the ongoing war stresses the importance of their work in sustaining national morale and ensuring informational transparency. This demonstrates that Ukraine continues to value the contribution of everyone who risks their life to defend the country and its citizens. In a conflict heavily defined by information warfare, the work of frontline correspondents is itself a critical national service.

Such initiatives can also serve as an example for future generations, motivating them to serve their nation.
