Ukrainian Soldiers Receive State Honors
On December 3, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to a group of military personnel. Among those honored was Oleg Lyashko, a former member of parliament who now serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Lyashko, who turned 53 on the day of the ceremony, commands the unmanned aerial systems battalion of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. This recognition highlights the diverse backgrounds of those defending the nation.
Launch of the 'E-Balls' Initiative
During the event, President Zelenskyy also participated in the presentation of the 'E-Balls' initiative, a new system designed to evaluate the performance of drone units. He stressed that Ukraine must maintain a technological edge, noting that modern warfare is rapidly evolving and increasingly depends on which side can deploy new technologies faster and more effectively. This initiative is part of a broader push to systematize and enhance Ukraine's renowned drone warfare capabilities.
'Ukraine must preserve its leadership and prevail in every cycle of technological development. We must respond quickly to new challenges and—what is very important—anticipate the next stages of technological warfare. These are all difficult tasks. But it was also difficult to reach our current level. Ukraine did it. We all did it together. We must ensure Ukraine's unchanging technological leadership.'
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy
These steps toward technological advancement and military support underscore the critical need to adapt to the new realities of warfare, a vital component of contemporary defense strategy.
The decoration of Ukrainian service members, including Oleg Lyashko, acknowledges their contribution to national defense. Concurrently, the 'E-Balls' initiative emphasizes the growing centrality of technology in military operations, signaling Ukraine's strategic focus on integrating innovation into its fight against the aggressor. These combined actions lay a foundation for strengthening the nation's defense capabilities in the face of modern threats.
