Meeting with Italy's Prime Minister

According to Зеленський: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held talks focused on the current situation in Ukraine, particularly the ongoing shelling of cities and communities. Zelenskyy noted that Russia continues its attacks, with today's strikes involving ballistic missiles and attack drones. These actions resulted in the deaths of five people in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson.

Prospects for Cooperation

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed potential joint efforts in Europe on ballistic missile defense. Zelenskyy emphasized that

“we discussed the prospects of joint work in Europe on anti-ballistic missile defense to add protection for everyone – both Ukraine and every country”

. He also stressed the need for additional missiles for air defense systems, stating that

“we very much count on support”

.

Furthermore, the president highlighted the importance of assistance from Italy, which “always fundamentally helps protect life.” This meeting marked a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Italy amid the threat from Russia.

The discussions underscore the close security partnership between Ukraine and Italy, especially given the current threats posed by Russia. The focus on ballistic missile systems signals Ukraine's intent to bolster its defenses and secure backing from European partners to enhance continental security. As military operations persist, such collaboration is becoming increasingly vital for regional stability.

In light of the ongoing discussions surrounding Ukraine's defense needs, it is crucial to note that similar dialogues are taking place with other European leaders. For instance, Ukraine's air defense and EU integration priorities were also on the agenda during talks with Greece's Prime Minister. These conversations highlight the broader regional efforts to strengthen security collaborations in response to the escalating threats from Russia.
