President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the introduction of safety measures in schools. This information was published on the official page of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Telegram.
In particular, clear rules will be established in schools regarding who and how can be on the premises of the educational institution. There will also be a mandatory order for access and control over the implementation of these norms. Each school must have defined boundaries of its territory.
In addition, schools must have emergency notification systems for the police, known as 'panic buttons'. Unauthorized persons, as well as people in an intoxicated state or with dangerous objects, will not be allowed on the school premises.
Criteria for selecting school security guards will also be extended. For example, individuals with convictions for violence or bullying will not be allowed to guard schools. Specific admission rules will be developed by school principals in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
