Zelensky Strips Odesa Mayor Trukhanov of Citizenship: What We Know

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stripped the mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, of his Ukrainian citizenship. Hennadiy Trukhanov was born on January 17, 1965, in Odesa, has served in the Armed Forces, and has a legal education. After leaving the Party of Regions, he took office as mayor of Odesa in 2014, winning the elections.


However, Trukhanov's political career has been marked by a series of scandals. His connections to offshore companies, as well as the case regarding overpayment for the building of the Krajans factory, have been widely discussed in society. Deputies accused the mayor of attempts to murder Odesa activists and of having ties to obtaining Russian citizenship.
