President Zelensky at the Scene of Russian Strike in Kyiv
President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the site of a Russian attack in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, where a missile struck a residential building. He described the assault as one of the most intense strikes on the capital since the full-scale war began. Three people were killed at the impact site, bringing the total death toll in Kyiv to 21. Rescue crews continue to clear the rubble, while the number of wounded has reached 85, including two children.
Appeal to International Partners
Zelensky highlighted that some of the losses could have been prevented if allies had fulfilled their promises to deliver weapons on time. He noted that an agreement with Norway had been reached to fund 200 missiles for Ukraine, but not a single one has arrived.
“If partners had provided what they promised on time, we could have saved homes and lives today. This is a major problem,” Zelensky stated.
The president also announced a meeting with partners regarding the Freya program during the NATO summit, aiming to hold talks in July or August. He stressed that Ukraine lacks enough air defense missiles to intercept ballistic threats and warned of a potential escalation in the conflict.
“Putin is fighting to show that he is winning. But there is no victory, and there will be no victory,” he said.
When asked whether Ukraine would retaliate against Moscow, Zelensky indicated that such a response is not off the table. At the same time, he acknowledged that Putin needs ‘muscle’ that he cannot gain on the battlefield. Overall, the situation remains tense, and events in Ukraine continue to alarm the international community.
The situation in Ukraine remains critical, particularly amid ongoing Russian military aggression. Zelensky’s remarks to international partners underscore the urgent need for timely support and military aid to prevent further civilian casualties. Ukraine’s next moves on the global stage could prove decisive in the fight for regional security and stability.
As the situation escalates, Zelensky has warned of a potential large-scale Russian offensive that could further threaten the safety of civilians in Ukraine. His recent statements underscore the urgent need for timely military support from international allies, highlighting the critical nature of the ongoing conflict.
