Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hosted six bilateral meetings in Kyiv with leaders from Southeast Europe during the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit. The attendees included the presidents of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, and Albania, along with the prime ministers of Croatia and Slovenia. This marks the second time such a summit has taken place in Ukraine.

The discussions focused on promising projects aimed at enhancing shared security and regional development. Zelenskyy emphasized:

“Together, we can achieve a great deal for greater collective security and progress.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The meetings also served as a forum for exchanging views on the current security situation in the region.

Importance of International Support

Foreign guests visited the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, which was damaged by a Russian strike in June. Zelenskyy highlighted the need to maintain pressure on the aggressor:

“We must continue to pressure the aggressor so that these attacks on life cease and a just peace is achieved.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
These remarks underscore Ukraine’s commitment to securing international support for restoring peace and stability in the region.

This summit underscores the critical role of cooperation among Southeast European nations in addressing the security challenges facing the region. Engaging international partners and discussing joint initiatives represent key steps toward strengthening regional stability and economic growth. Ukraine’s stance on pressuring the aggressor reflects its pursuit of active diplomacy and international solidarity in securing peace in the region.

In addition to the discussions held during the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit, President Zelenskyy is also focusing on strengthening Ukraine's air defense capabilities and advancing its European integration efforts. These priorities were highlighted in his recent talks with the Greek Prime Minister, where the importance of international cooperation in enhancing security was emphasized.
