New Military Commands Created Within Ukraine's Armed Forces
President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the formation of a Long-Range Strike Command within the Ukrainian Armed Forces and signed a decree to create Joint Rapid Reaction Forces. According to the president, this new structure will integrate assault troops, unmanned systems, artillery, and other assets, enabling a much faster response on the front lines.
During his evening address, Zelensky stated:
“Today I signed a decree to establish a special command within the Armed Forces – a long-range command, effectively a global influence on Russia for this war. This command must concentrate one hundred percent of available resources to further degrade Russia's war potential.”
Hero of Ukraine, Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, who currently leads the 8th Corps of the Air Assault Forces, has been proposed to head the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces. The president emphasized that
“Brigadier General Voloshyn, commander of the 8th Air Assault Corps, is capable of ensuring the further development of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' capabilities in this direction.”
Reform of Assault Troops
Additionally, Zelensky announced a restructuring of the assault troops, stating: “A necessary transformation of the assault forces will be carried out. There are many issues and problems that need to be resolved. First and foremost, in the treatment of personnel. Law enforcement agencies are taking procedural steps. There will also be changes at the command level of the assault troops.”
These new structures within the Ukrainian Armed Forces aim to enhance combat readiness and effectiveness in modern conditions.
