Official Visit of the President of Ukraine to Poland

On December 19, 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made an official visit to Poland, during which important issues of defense cooperation, economic partnership, sanctions pressure on Russia, and the return of abducted children were discussed. Meetings took place with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda and the Marshal of the Sejm Wlodzimierz Czarzasty.

Zelensky emphasized Poland's participation in all 12 meetings of the Coalition of Willing, which indicates Warsaw's active support in Ukraine's fight against aggression. He also announced an interest-free loan of 90 billion euros allocated to Ukraine by the European Union. Of this amount, 45 billion euros are earmarked for the 2026 budget, which is expected to significantly support the country's economic stability.

Threats from Russia and the Importance of International Support

Additionally, during the visit, Zelensky noted that the Russian missile system 'Oreshnik' is being moved to Belarus, posing a threat to many European countries, including Poland and Germany. The president stressed that support for Ukraine from international partners is crucial, stating:

'For us, this is a reinforcement. This is a signal to the 'Russians' that there is no point in continuing to fight, as we are financially supported' - Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Zelensky's visit to Poland underscores the importance of regional cooperation in the context of security and economic stability, especially amidst the growing threat from Russia. Support from Poland and the European Union could become a key factor in strengthening Ukraine's defense capacity, as well as ensuring financial support for the country's recovery and development. Given the escalation of tensions on the eastern front, such meetings hold strategic significance for shaping a collective response to security challenges in Europe.
