The situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remains critical due to shelling by Russian troops. The facility has been without external power for the seventh day, operating solely on diesel generators, which poses a serious threat to nuclear safety. One of the generators has already failed.
'This is extraordinary. Generators and the plant are not designed for such loads and cannot operate in this mode for so long,' noted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his address on September 30.
According to the president, Russian troops are deliberately hindering repair work at the nuclear power plant to restore electricity supply. 'Russia is doing what no terrorist in the world would dream of with a nuclear power plant,' emphasized Zelensky. At his order, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs engaged the international community regarding this situation.
Russian troops continue attacks in eastern regions of Ukraine
On September 30, Russian troops continued massive attacks in the eastern regions of Ukraine. The city of Dnipro was struck by drones in the center, with casualties reported. Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions were under threat throughout the day. In Chernihiv region, Russian troops targeted a substation.
A tragedy occurred in Sumy region, where a Russian drone killed an entire family - a man, a pregnant woman, and two children aged four and seven. 'We will definitely respond to Russia for their attacks,' said the President, expressing condolences to the families of the deceased.
Events in Ukraine show that the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia is under threat due to Russian shelling, while massive attacks in the eastern regions continue, resulting in human casualties and danger to local residents. Government agencies are taking measures to draw the international community's attention to these events and to punish those responsible for the aggression.
