Targeted Sanctions Against Ex-Presidential Office Chief

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted sanctions against Andriy Bohdan, the former head of the Presidential Office, along with four other individuals. The decree, numbered 358/2026, was released on the Ukrainian President’s official website on May 2, 2026. This directive implements a decision made by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, which was also adopted on the same date.

Individuals Subject to the Sanctions

The restrictive measures apply to five people. In addition to Andriy Bohdan, they include Ukrainian businessman Bohdan Pukish, Russian businessman Alan Kiryukhin, and two Russian officials in Olympic sports: Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Mikhail Mamiasvili. The decree states that Bohdan’s actions pose a threat to Ukraine’s national interests, national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Oversight of the National Security and Defense Council’s decision has been assigned to the Secretary of that body. The decree takes effect from the day of its publication.

This move against Andriy Bohdan and the others highlights Ukraine’s intensified efforts to safeguard its national interests. Such decisions may signal a stepped-up campaign against individuals perceived as security threats, as well as a need to monitor businessmen and officials with ties to Russia. The evolving situation could significantly shape Ukraine’s political landscape and its relationships with international partners.

The recent sanctions against Andriy Bohdan are part of a broader strategy by President Zelenskyy to address various security threats. In a related context, the government has also targeted individuals linked to serious crimes, including child abductions and the activities of Russia's shadow fleet.
