Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Russia’s Military-Industrial Sector
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has enacted sanctions against companies supplying equipment to Russian defense factories, as well as against pro-Kremlin propagandists. The move aims to curb support for Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
The sanctions target firms, their founders, and executives involved in producing high-precision machine tools and equipment for Russia’s military-industrial complex. In total, the package includes 30 legal entities and 42 individuals. Among those affected is the Burevisnyk center, which manufactures mortar systems and 152-mm self-propelled artillery units known as the “Malva.” Also sanctioned is KAM-Engineering, a company involved in final testing of combat aviation components and certain missile systems.
A Second Round of Sanctions
A second sanctions package applies to 15 individuals and eight legal entities that support Russia’s hostile policies toward Ukraine. Those listed include:
- military blogger Vladimir Romanov;
- former military pilot and propagandist Ilya Tumanov;
- former synchronized swimmer Maria Kiselyova, now a deputy in the Moscow City Duma;
- former Ukrainian lawmaker Borislav Bereza.
Earlier, President Zelensky signed decrees extending sanctions against entities that service Russia’s defense sector. These measures are part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to counter Russian aggression and protect national interests.
The introduction of new sanctions underscores the Ukrainian government’s determination to combat Russian aggression and take steps to limit resources that could be used against Ukraine.
These actions also highlight international backing for Ukraine’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as the sanctions may weaken Russia’s economic capabilities and its military-industrial base.
