Social Payment 'Winter Thousand'
Ukrainians receive the social payment 'Winter Thousand', which is often spent on housing and communal services, medicines, and donations. As of today, more than 15.8 million applications have been submitted for this payment. Deputy Minister of Social Policy Tetiana Kirienko reported that housing and communal services remain the leader in payments, with about 4.5 million people spending money on them.
Application Acceptance and Funding
The acceptance of applications for a one-time payment of 6500 UAH continues until December 17. As of December 9, more than 340 thousand people have submitted applications for assistance. The Ministry has financed assistance for 117,199 individuals. Tetiana Kirienko noted that the department is preparing for all applications to be addressed, and simultaneously the acceptance of applications for another one-time payment of 6500 UAH is ongoing.
The funds received must be spent within 180 days. Thus, the 'Winter Thousand' serves as an important source of support for many Ukrainians, helping them cope with financial difficulties amid rising prices for communal services and medicines.
This social payment is part of the government's efforts to support the population in conditions of economic instability. Given the large number of applications submitted and the duration of the program, one can conclude that the need for such assistance remains high. The continuation of application acceptance and ensuring funding indicates the state's readiness to respond to the citizens' needs in a difficult period.
