Зимові набори до вишів: 45 навчальних закладів запровадять підготовчі факультети.

Open Path to Higher Education

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has published a list of 45 universities that will enroll students in a preparatory department called 'Open Path to Higher Education'. This project, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, is experimental and will include a 'winter admission' lasting from three to six months. The preparatory program covers key subjects that will help applicants prepare for admission to higher educational institutions.

Participating Universities and Training Program

Among the universities participating in the project are such well-known institutions as:

  • Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
  • Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
  • V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University
  • Lviv Polytechnic
  • Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute

The compulsory training program includes:

  • Ukrainian Language
  • Mathematics
  • History of Ukraine
  • One elective subject (foreign language, natural sciences, or literature)

Each of these subjects includes 90 hours of classroom instruction.

Training can be organized in full-time or distance format, providing flexibility for applicants. Grants for tuition can be received by categories of applicants such as residents of temporarily occupied territories, veterans, and military personnel. Graduates of the 'zero course' can receive up to 15 additional points when applying to the same institution, which can significantly increase their chances of successful admission to the university.

The introduction of the 'Open Path to Higher Education' program aims to enhance access to higher education for various categories of the population, particularly for those with limited opportunities to prepare for admission. The experimental format of 'winter admission' may become an important step in reforming the education system in Ukraine, as it provides applicants with additional opportunities for learning and adaptation to the demands of higher educational institutions.
