Ukraine Women’s 3x3 Basketball Team Gears Up for Summer 2026
The Ukrainian women’s 3x3 basketball squad is launching its training cycle for the 2026 summer season under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Vitaliy Cherniy. This preparation phase will run from May 6 to May 30, 2026, featuring training camps in Riga and Kaunas. During the first stage, six players will participate, with Kateryna Koval joining the team for the second camp.
Upcoming Tournaments and Summer Schedule
The 3x3 Basketball World Cup is set to take place from June 1 to June 7, 2026, in Warsaw. Ukraine’s team has been placed in Group D, where they will face the following opponents:
- France
- Canada
- Japan
- Lithuania
Following the World Cup, the first leg of the Women’s 3x3 Series is scheduled for June 12–14, 2026, in Vienna. At least three additional stages of the Women’s 3x3 Series are planned for the summer, while European Championship qualifying will take place in Bucharest in mid-June. The continental championship itself is slated for September 11–13, 2026.
Meanwhile, the men’s national team has been active in qualifying for the 2027 World Cup. They suffered a 78–64 loss against Spain but bounced back with an 88–71 victory over Denmark. In a match against Georgia, Ukraine secured a 92–79 win, with Oleksandr Kovliar leading the scoring with 31 points. Vyacheslav Bobrov also stood out, recording a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds in that game.
The following players have been called up for the women’s training camp: Miriam Uro-Nile, Kristyna Filevych, Anzhelika Liashko, Veronika Kosmach, Vira Hrymaliuk, Karyna Panchuk, and Kateryna Koval. Under new head coach Vitaliy Cherniy, the women’s team aims to achieve strong results in the upcoming competitions.
