Swedish skier opposes the admission of Russian athletes to the Olympics

Star Swedish skier Linn Swan has spoken out against the admission of Russian athletes to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. This was reported by Expressen.

"If Russians are admitted, I don’t want to compete. Of course, I don’t know how I will behave if I find myself at the Olympics and they are there. Maybe I will be in great shape, as I don’t have any Olympic medals yet. But I hope that I will have the willpower not to compromise my principles. There are things that are more important than sport," Swan said.

Linn Swan is a winner of World Cup stages, holder of the Small Crystal Globe in sprint races, and a bronze medalist at the World Junior Championships in the relay.

The issue of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes

The issue of admitting Russian and Belarusian skiers will be considered on October 21 at an extraordinary meeting of the International Ski Federation (FIS) council.

"I represent Russia, and I was proud when Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) sent me a telegram after winning the world championship," said Russian freestyler Anastasia Tatalina.

Tatalina is a member of the Russian military club CSKA, an organization that has a direct connection to Russia's military activities in its aggressive intervention against Ukraine.

Representatives of the sports world have expressed their views on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games. Ukrainian skier Linn Swan will refuse to participate in competitions if Russian athletes are allowed, expressing her stance on the importance of principles and values.
