After returning to civilian life, half of Ukrainian veterans can either take their previous job again or choose a different career path, including starting their own business and participating in retraining programs. This was reported by the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Natalia Kalmykova.

'On average, half of the people return to their workplace. Some of them stay in the security and defense sector, while others create businesses that produce dual-use goods, drones, etc. There are also those who rethink their opportunities through retraining programs,' Kalmykova explained.

According to her, specialists in veteran support operate in each community, helping them determine the next steps in life. The state also supports veterans' entrepreneurial activities through grants, which have helped nearly 2,800 military personnel start their own businesses.

Support and prospects

Minister Kalmykova also emphasized that support for veteran entrepreneurship is one of the key directions. Among the popular areas of veterans' business, the creation of dual-use goods and the manufacture of drones stand out, allowing veterans to remain active in the defense sector after completing their service in the army.

The veteran support system at the local level provides an individualized approach to each serviceman, helping them find the best path to peaceful civilian life.

Ukrainian veterans returning to civilian life have opportunities to restore their former job, establish their own business, or undergo retraining for a new profession. State support through the grant system promotes the development of veteran entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for the active participation of Ukrainian military personnel in civilian life.
