The salary of people's deputies of Ukraine has increased by almost 10 thousand hryvnias over the past five years. Currently, parliamentarians receive about 54-55 thousand hryvnias per month, while previously this figure was approximately 46 thousand hryvnias. This was reported on the air of 'News. Live' by MP from the 'Servant of the People' faction Ruslan Gorbenko.
The increase in deputies' salaries was due to indexing
According to the parliamentarian, there has been no significant increase in salaries in recent years. The growth of payments is primarily related to annual indexing.
Gorbenko noted that the indexing of the salaries of people's deputies is about 4% per year.
'It was 46, now it is 54-55 thousand hryvnias. I may be off by some 100-200 hryvnias,' said the deputy.
Thus, over the past five years, the salary of deputies has increased by approximately 8-9 thousand hryvnias, or nearly 20%.
The issue of additional payments remains unanswered
At the same time, the MP did not specify the amount of additional payments and compensation that parliamentarians receive.
This concerns, in particular, funds for the performance of deputy powers, compensation for housing rent, transportation costs, and other payments provided by law.
Due to the presence of additional compensations, the actual income of individual deputies may differ from the official salary size.
The Rada proposes to increase social standards
Against the backdrop of discussions about deputies' salaries, initiatives to raise the minimum wage, living wage, and pensions have also been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
In addition, some MPs propose to increase the financial support for military personnel by one and a half times and to impose limits on maximum salaries for officials.
The authors of the initiatives believe that sources of additional revenues could be more effective combat against tax evasion and the reduction of secondary state expenditures.
