The state logistics operator of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine appeared as responsible for the order of bulletproof protection in an extended configuration totaling UAH 662.91 million, as reported in the article 'Our Money' on the 'Glavcom' portal. This procurement became the first for the new technical specifications of bulletproof vests and additional equipment for them, as indicated in the 'Prozorro' system.
The feature of these bulletproof vests lies in the presence of additional parts for the forearm, shin, and coccyx, made from a material similar to the ballistic elements of the main vest. The new additions provide protection in defined areas of the body and have attachments to the vest's cover, allowing for protection of critical body parts while maintaining ergonomics and mobility, notes Nikita Chichkan, the director of the logistics program.
- By the end of 2025, the supply of 15,000 bulletproof vests in MM-14 camouflage (pixel) type 2, made from ceramic composite materials, is planned. Among them:
- 5,000 bulletproof vests 'Plastoon UAFE Gen 2' produced by 'Kharkiv Plant of Individual Protection Means' at a price of UAH 38,000/set;
- 10,000 bulletproof vests 'Korsar M3mp6' from 'NVP Temp-3000' for UAH 38,000/set.
Price increase for bulletproof vests is related to the expansion of the configuration
The increase in prices for bulletproof vests compared to the previous year by $200 thousand is associated with the expansion of the configuration. For example, bulletproof vests with configuration 1-8 cost between $711 thousand to $712 thousand, while vests with configuration 1-11 priced at $913 thousand were more expensive. Additionally, the state enterprise 'State Logistics Operator' ordered bulletproof vests with protection for water operations, which have positive buoyancy elements (PBE) and provide protection in water environments.
The news about the order of bulletproof protection for Ukrainian defenders for a total of UAH 662.91 million and its features has been submitted. The expansion of the configuration of bulletproof vests has led to an increase in their prices but ensures better protection for the military, including operations in water environments.
