Ukrainian Armed Forces to Strengthen Resistance Against Russian Aviation Starting January 2: What Will Change
The Ukrainian military plans to enhance its resistance against Russian aviation starting January 2, 2024. The head of the communication department of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ihnat, reported that Russia intends to significantly increase the production of guided aerial bombs and drones by 2025. In particular, the Russian side plans to produce:
- 120,000 guided aerial bombs
- 70,000 drones
It is worth noting that on October 20, 2023, Russian forces used a modernized guided aerial bomb for the first time on the territory of the Poltava district, at a distance of 120 km. This indicates an increasing threat from Russian aviation, which Yuriy Ihnat emphasized. He stressed that it is necessary to counter not only ground attacks but also those from the air, stating:
'There are not enough missiles in the world to counter such aerial bombs.' – Yuriy Ihnat
The main task in countering guided aerial bombs, according to Ihnat, is to drive the carrier further away. Thus, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing to strengthen their positions and strategies in response to new challenges that may arise due to the intensification of Russian military actions.
New Challenges and Strategies
Strengthening resistance against Russian aviation indicates an increasing threat from the enemy, requiring new approaches in Ukraine's military strategy. Considering Russia's plans for the production of a large number of new combat systems, Ukrainian military forces are focusing on enhancing their defense measures and air defense, which could become a key factor in ensuring the security of Ukraine's territory in the near future.
