August 5: What Ukraine’s General Staff Reported
Ukraine’s General Staff, in its daily update for August 5, said Ukrainian forces fought 261 separate engagements over the past day. The heaviest pressure came on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka axes, where Russian troops launched 29 attacks on each. Moscow lost roughly 1,330 soldiers in the last 24 hours, together with 59 artillery systems, four tanks, four multiple-launch rocket systems, and 1,811 drones. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian personnel losses have reached about 1,454,210.
The Fiercest Frontline Sectors
Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka were the epicenters of the fighting. On the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy mounted 29 attacks near these settlements:

Over the same period, Russian forces carried out two missile strikes using 30 missiles, conducted 78 air attacks, and dropped 299 guided bombs. They also deployed 10,672 kamikaze drones and opened fire 3,314 times, including 66 strikes from multiple rocket launchers. On the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk axes, there were seven combat clashes, two air strikes, four guided bombs, and 75 artillery or other shelling incidents, 19 of which came from MLRS.
The Southern Slobozhanskyi sector saw 12 enemy attacks, and the Kupiansk sector was hit by 11. Near Lyman, Russian forces made 14 attempts to break through, while the Sloviansk sector also saw 14 assaults. Two offensive actions were registered on each of the Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivka axes, and the Huliaipole sector came under 11 attacks. Ukrainian troops repelled four enemy advances on the Orikhiv axis, while no offensive activity was recorded on the Prydniprovsk sector. No indications of Russian assault groups forming on the Volyn or Polissia axes were found.
The daily combat figures show that fighting across Ukraine remains intense, especially along the strategically important eastern axes, where territorial control continues to be a decisive factor for both sides.
