Ukrainian Forces Launch Coordinated Night Strikes on Russian Oil, Port, and Storage Sites

Українські військові провели скоординовані нічні атаки на стратегічні об'єкти ворожої інфраструктури.

Infrastructure Targets Hit in Overnight Assault

In a series of overnight strikes on April 5, 2026, Ukrainian military forces targeted critical Russian infrastructure sites. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed a successful attack on an oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region. A massive fire erupted at the 'Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez' plant in the city of Kstovo. This facility is strategically vital, accounting for nearly 30% of gasoline consumption in the Moscow region and possessing an annual capacity of 17 million tons. A strike was also confirmed on the strategic Baltic Sea port of 'Primorsk', where a fire damaged port infrastructure.

Ukrainian Military's Offensive Operations Continue

In addition to the infrastructure strikes, Ukrainian forces hit an aviation equipment storage depot in occupied Crimea and struck concentrations of enemy personnel in several areas:

  • Berezovyi,
  • Novomykolaivka (Dnipropetrovsk region),
  • Huliaipole (Zaporizhzhia region),
  • Yalynske (Donetsk region).

An offensive operation on the Oleksandrivsk direction, ongoing since late January, has seen Ukrainian forces regain control of 480 square kilometers of territory. As a result, 8 villages in the Dnipropetrovsk region and 4 villages in the Zaporizhzhia region have been liberated from occupation.

These actions demonstrate Ukraine's continued pressure on multiple fronts, striking deep at Russia's logistical and economic assets while making incremental gains on the ground. Targeting Russia's domestic energy infrastructure represents a significant shift in Ukraine's long-range strike campaign, aiming to disrupt military logistics and the economy funding the war. The liberation of territory, while measured, underscores the ongoing, grinding nature of the conflict as Ukrainian forces seek to capitalize on strategic advantages.

As Ukraine intensifies its military operations, the recent coordinated strikes on Russian infrastructure highlight a broader strategy aimed at crippling supply lines and logistics. This follows a significant nighttime assault that targeted critical areas in Crimea, further illustrating the shifting dynamics of the conflict.
