Abnormally warm winter in Ukraine: meteorologist revealed when to expect frosts
According to ХВИЛЯ: The head of the Cherkasy Hydrometeorological Center, Vitaliy Postryhan, reported on the abnormally warm weather in Ukraine and the winter forecast. According to him, the calendar winter will begin according to the autumn scenario, indicating a lack of sharp temperature changes at the beginning of the cold season.
According to forecasts, the duration of daylight at the moment is 8 hours and 30 minutes, and is shortening by 2 minutes daily until December 21. November 2025 is characterized by an average daily temperature of 9-11 degrees, indicating abnormally warm conditions during this period. The water temperature in the Dnieper is 8 degrees, which is also atypical for this time of year.
Weather forecast for the coming days
In the coming night, November 28, the temperature during the day is expected to be within 4-9 degrees Celsius. The average daily temperature for the period of November 29-30 will be 4-6 degrees. Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate from 1 to 6 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are forecasted to be between 3-8 degrees Celsius.
Vitaliy Postryhan noted that only a few atmospheric fronts affect our region with small rains, but this will not influence the overall trend towards warm weather. He also emphasized that fogs during dark times pose an even greater danger to drivers and pedestrians.
It is expected that in the first decade of December, a powerful anticyclone will be present in Ukraine, which may also affect the weather. Predictions indicate that frosts may appear later, but currently, Ukraine is experiencing abnormally warm weather, which does not correspond to traditional winter conditions.
Abnormally warm winter in Ukraine may indicate changes in climatic conditions that affect the agricultural sector, energy infrastructure, and the daily life of the population. The increase in temperature may lead to delays in preparations for winter conditions, as well as pose additional risks, such as fog on the roads. The duration of warm weather may also influence the behavior of insects and plants, which, in turn, will have an impact on the country's ecosystems. - Vitaliy Postryhan
