Abnormally warm December in Ukraine

Forecaster Ihor Kibalchych reported that December 2025 in Ukraine will be abnormally warm, with elevated temperatures, frequent fogs, and a deficit of precipitation. The temperature in December will exceed the climatic norm by 1-3 degrees Celsius, indicating unusual atmospheric conditions in the region.

Weather forecasts

In the first decade of December, soft weather with virtually no precipitation is expected. This period will be characterized by calm conditions. The second decade of December will bring the formation of a powerful anticyclonic field, resulting in southeast winds that will contribute to the maintenance of elevated temperatures. Significant precipitation is not expected, and the deficit of rain and snow in Eastern Europe will be from 10 to 30 percent of the norm.

At the end of December, the temperature will gradually start to decrease to average climatic values, but the southern regions and Transcarpathia will maintain elevated temperatures. In the third decade of December, small frosts are possible; however, overall, the weather will remain abnormally warm. Ihor Kibalchych noted that the atmospheric conditions in the Atlantic-European region indicate a warm scenario for most of the continent, which supports the forecasts for December in Ukraine.

Abnormally warm winter months may affect various sectors, including agriculture, energy, and ecology. The lack of snow and precipitation may lead to water supply problems in the spring period and also affect soil conditions. Changes in weather conditions during the winter period may also indicate long-term climate trends that require careful monitoring and adaptation of relevant strategies. In the context of global climate change, such forecasts are becoming increasingly relevant for planning activities in various sectors of the economy.
