Drone Attacks on Donetsk Region

According to Главком: On January 9, 2023, the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region was subjected to drone attacks, leading to serious power supply issues in the area. The attack damaged the Chaykino 330 kW substation, complicating the situation with electricity for local residents.

This is not the first case of drones attacking temporarily occupied Donetsk. On November 17, 2022, drone strikes had already targeted the city, and on November 18 of the same year, strike drones attacked the Zuievska TPP in the occupied Zugres. Previously, on September 8, 2022, drones and missiles shelled occupied Donetsk, Makiyivka, and Yenakiieve, which also led to serious power supply problems.

Impact of Attacks on Local Residents' Lives

This latest attack on Donetsk highlights the rising tension in the region and the challenges facing residents of occupied territories. Power supply problems complicate not only daily life but also create additional difficulties for infrastructure.

The increasing frequency of attacks on Donetsk indicates an escalation of conflict in the region, which, in turn, negatively affects the daily lives of local residents. The lack of stable electricity supply complicates access to basic services, such as:

  • lighting
  • heating
  • water supply

These factors can worsen the humanitarian situation in the region and increase the stress levels among the population, which is already under pressure due to the war and occupation.
