Power Outage Hits Kyiv's Left Bank, Disrupting Services and Transit

Accident on the left bank of Kyiv
Проблеми з енергозабезпеченням залишили жителів лівого берега Києва без послуг та зупинили рух транспорту.

Equipment Failure Causes Widespread Disruption in Kyiv

According to Главком: A major equipment failure on Kyiv's Left Bank has resulted in a widespread power outage, interruptions to the water supply, and significant delays to public transportation. The Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts have been particularly affected by the loss of electricity. Ukraine's energy infrastructure remains vulnerable, and such incidents can cause major urban disruption. The energy company DTEK reported the situation and stated that repair work is planned for completion by 02:20.

Public Transport Services Severely Impacted

The failure in the electrical grid has caused the blackout and water supply issues. In Kyiv, the operation of several trolleybus and tram lines has been delayed due to a loss of power and the absence of voltage in the overhead contact network. Specifically, service is disrupted for the following lines:

  • Trolleybuses: Nos. 29, 30, 31, 37, 43, 44, 47, 50, 50k
  • Trams: Nos. 8, 22, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, 35
'Our priority is to reconnect critical infrastructure using backup power schemes,' DTEK stated in its message.

According to Ukrenergo, no nationwide power outages are scheduled for March 22.

This incident underscores the critical importance of stable energy infrastructure for urban life, as power cuts can severely impact residents' daily routines. Restoring electricity and water is essential for maintaining basic living conditions, while transport delays can complicate movement across the city.
