The national selection final, held in Vienna where the international contest will also take place, featured twelve competitors, with the winner decided by a combined vote from a 44-member jury and the television audience.
The victory went to 19-year-old Cosmó, who was born in Budapest to a Hungarian mother and a German father and now resides in Vienna. His winning track, 'Tanzschein', was one of six German-language entries in the competition. Cosmó expressed deep commitment to representing Austria, describing the opportunity as a 'second form of civil service', and revealed he wrote the song for his mother.
