Ukrainian Banks Invest 63 Billion Hryvnias into Energy Projects by September

According to НБУ: By September, Ukrainian banks had poured a total of 63 billion hryvnias into energy initiatives, allocating 58.5 billion hryvnias to support businesses and 4.8 billion hryvnias toward residential projects. Under a memorandum focused on rebuilding energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks, these investments have helped restore generation capacity totaling 2.014 GW and upgrade heating equipment with a capacity of 895 MW.
The gross loan portfolio for businesses stands at 37.6 billion hryvnias, while loans extended to households reach 3.5 billion hryvnias. These projects are currently underway in 21 regions across Ukraine, highlighting the extensive geographic scope of the country’s energy recovery efforts.
The Critical Role of Financing in Recovery
Securing substantial funding for the rehabilitation of energy infrastructure is a key component in Ukraine’s broader reconstruction after ongoing conflict. Investments targeting the modernization of power generation and heating systems not only aim to restore energy self-sufficiency but also play a vital role in stabilizing the national economy.
